The Scene, 2009 (Summer)
Description
The Willamette Scene began publication in April 1967. It was a quarterly publication providing insitutional news for the campus community, alumni, and University supporters. The focus was on University accomplishements and advancement. Until Spring 1970, The Willamette Scene was a newsletter style publication. In order to increase readership and support for Willamette, The Willamette Scene was published as a newspaper tabloid and included in the Oregon Statesman and Capital Journal newspapers until 1974. This tabloid style publication replaced The Alumnus. In 1971, publication featured both a newspaper tabloid to be included in local newspapers as well as a magazine sent to a smaller number of consitutuents. The Annual Report of the President also began being included in the publication. In 1984, The Scene underwent a redesign and became a quarterly magazine publication for "alumni and friends of the west's oldest University." Publication of The Scene stopped in 2014, with a redesign and a title change to Willamette.
