Material from Packwood’s time in the U.S. Senate includes documents related to legislative activity that Packwood had an interest in promoting or blocking in the U.S. Congress during his five terms in office (1969-1995). In total, the Legislative Series comprises 535 linear feet (boxes) of material, organized into three subseries: Congressional Sessions (91st – 93rd Congresses, 1969-1974), Staff Files, and Subject Files. The material in the Legislative series reflects Packwood’s long-term interests in environmental/timber issues, women’s rights, tax reform, deregulation, and welfare reform. Types of materials found in this series include correspondence, memos, notes, news articles, bills, amendments, reports, floor proceedings, schedules, photographs, and maps.
