Sketchbook (A. 30), 1993
Nelson Sandgren said of his sketchbooks in 1995: "In spite of the carelessness of the work (and sometimes very faulty drawing) I consider these many sketchbooks an important part of what I do. Many of the sketches never go further with me. In fact most. But a few generate prints or paintings, oils or monoprints and sometimes lithographs. One shouldn't be decieved, however, that any of the sketches are full fledged paintings - or nearly so! There's enough of that out there in these 1900s."
