Lady Justice (Statue : Willamette University)

Scope Note: Located in the Truman Wesley Collins Law Center at Willamette University since 1992. Prior to that it occupied the foyer of the College of Law when it was housed in the former Salem Post Office building, now known as Gatke Hall. Acquired in 1905, the Lady Justice (Goddess of Justice) statue stood atop the tower of the second Marion County Courthouse until it was demolished in 1952. 10 feet tall and 900 pounds. Called both the Goddess of Justice and Goddess No. 4762 for its catalog number.
