Scope and Contents
The Administrative materials series is the core of the collection, containing information about the general activities of the library, as well as any special projects. The Collections sub-series contains information about collections and acquisitions, including gift records. The Archives sub-series contains information about the founding, funding, and management of the University Archives, including its beginnings with the Mark Hatfield papers. It also includes information about the university records management program, which is overseen by the Archives. The Systems and services sub-series contains information about public-facing services of the library and the technologies that support them. The Reports and general administrative materials contain written documentation of library projects and programs, especially annual reports. The Policies sub-series includes library policy and procedure documents, as well as position descriptions. These show significant development over time, as the needs of library users changed. The Meeting minutes sub-series includes minutes from staff meetings and library committees. The Correspondence sub-series contains correspondence pertaining to the running of the library, particularly with upper University administration. The Library building sub-series contains information about the physical space in the library, including discussions about needs for the new Hatfield Library building, completed in 1986, and subsequent renovations.
The Exhibits and events series contains information about library exhibits and special events hosted by the library. It also contains the winning essays from the Student Research Award, given by the library each year.
The Friends of the Library series contains correspondence, minutes, reports, and publicity materials from the Friends of the Library group. The Friends of the Library were separately governed, but supported the work of the library.

Restricted until 2037. Per University Policy, administrative records are closed for 25 years from date of creation.
