Biographical / Historical
In 1988, the building which formerly housed the University Library was renamed Smullin Hall, and was adapted for use as classroom and office space.
The original plans for the new University Library had it located spanning the Mill Stream, where Goudy Commons currently is. The location and design were significantly revised early in 1981, when the library was moved to its current location next to (not over) the Mill Stream, and with only two floors rather than three. The building, which was named the Mark O. Hatfield Library, was built in 1985-1986 and opened in September of 1986.
