Biographical Note

Jeanne Moment attended University of California, Berkely and Columbia University before moving to Oregon with her husband, Samuel Moment, in 1940. She worked with oil, watercolor and lithographic prints, often using nature and the outdoors as subjects. These topics provided inspiration for the national "Keep America Beautiful" campaign launched in 1952 which Moment designed a shopping bag for. She exhibited artwork at the Portland Art Museum, Reed College, and the University of Oregon among other local venues. Moment died in 1984.
